Fraternity Jewel Eugene Kinckle Jones' gravesite – the location of which was unknown to today's Brothers – was uncovered by Brothers of Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter in St. Albans, New York. The gravesite and family plot was re-discovered in Flushing Cemetery in Queens, New York. A redrawing of the state's local boundaries had led to uncertainty about the whereabouts of the burial site. Zeta Zeta Lambda Brothers' attempts to relocate Brother Jones' gravesite is recounted in this edition of The Sphinx.
The Fraternity's 101st Anniversary Convention in Orlando, Florida also is highlighted in this Sphinx edition. The organization addressed African American use of the "N-word" and examined the language and mores of the "hip-hop culture" during the Convention. The issue also takes a look at some of the Fraternity's most outstanding Brothers in the Alphas On The Move section; and take us to the Virginia Union University campus in Richmond, Virginia for Gamma Chapter's Centennial Celebration Gala. The Fraternity's third-oldest Chapter was founded by Jewel Eugene Kinckle Jones.
